It's Amazing....

Just where you find evidence of tatting!!!

At the weekend I was in a Motorway Service Area.... coffee called.... (along with a comfort break)!!

We were 'browsing' the shop (as you do) and I came across this:

A REAL Tatty Soapdish!!!

No I didn't purchase it.... I'd have had to purchase all the other bits to go with it - crochet, bobbin lace etc (both of which can be seen in the 'edges' of the picture!!!)  And I'd've had to redo the bathroom to match it!!! VBG

It's 'orrible weather here today.... wall to wall rain!!  The traffic was at a standstill as well.... judging by the number of kids I didn't cross, some parents have decided that their 'little darlings' are made of sugar and will melt in the rain!!  No thought of the poor school lollipop lady standing getting wet for no reason!! LOL

Nothing to show you just yet on the tatty front.... been too busy undoing bits of THAT doily!!  Somebody made a mastike.... and forgotted to attach!!  So it's been undone and removed.... so I'm back to where I was on the last pic!! Rofl

So, chat soon

  1. So you're a soggy lollipop lady today? Wish I'd spotted that soapdish. Looks really pretty. Did it have a maker's name on it?

    1. It was a pretty item.... but a rather silly overinflated price!!! The makers name was covered over with stickers!!!

  2. I can't make out what is happening in the soap dish is the tatting embedded into the pottery? Is it real tatting or a picture? Very very wet here too!

    1. The tatting was pressed into the clay, removed, coloured and then put in the kiln Sally. So it was an imprint of tatting!! (and so were the bobbin lace and crochet items!!)

  3. Right that is what they did, clever and very effective, I hope no tatting was hurt during this process!

  4. I don't think I could have walked away from that dish! - go back immediately and buy it, otherwise you will always remember it and regret that you didn't. I do that all the time..... and usually what I wanted isn't there anymore, and then I get sad and have to buy a new shuttle.

  5. Looks like a very nice dish, interesting technique. I do pass on cut outs to my niece the potter. Wonder if she has used any?
