It's Here!!!

Now that got you going didn't it???  Wanting to know What's here!!???  Well, I know I would want to know!!

My Holidays start Tomorrow!!!  Tenerife!!  Young Sir and his girlfriend are staying here for the week to look after the house and the kitties... Gives her chance to see her cat that lives with us!!!  Yes, that's the permanent lodger!!  Remember?? 1 3/4 cats and a permanent lodger!!!  Usually found pretending to be a cushion on my chair!

Also, I wented mad and ordered some threads from Tatting & Design this time... size 40 and I can't for the life of me remember why!!! Think my version of BC3 AND 4 have already packed their bags and headed off for warm climes!!  Anyway, I ordered a cute liccle hook with a wooden handle (as if I haven't got enough already.... LOL)  Put the split ring from a keyring through it and made a cord using a lucet for it!! VBG

Here you go:

The other one is a cord for me specs!!

Lucets are easy to do.... here's a link for a youtube vid on how to do it, and you can get them on the internet from Sixpenny bobbins and Needlepaws to name just two!!  It's a great way to utilise thread to make a cord to match a necklace, drawstring bag.... shoelaces, etc.... anything you can think of really!!!

Right, I'm off to pack!!  Incidentally, Barney has promised to behave himself whilst I'm away, so that Morgana will be safe till after I've returned!!

A Bit O Bling!! (Or.... T'ats Another Story!!)

Right.... for those of you that ain't Yorkshire Folk... you may not know what 'bling' is.... Think jazzing something up with things that don't usually belong there.... Stitching one thing to another to 'prettify' it, and sometimes go 'over the top' when you get carried away!!  That's Bling!!

Well, you know that we all like to 'try patterns out', and end up with motifs that we really don't know what to do with??  Yes you do!!!  I am NOT on my own doing this!!VBG

Ok??  With me so far??  So.... when I got myself an iphone (cheap, and repaired it myself!!!), a couple of years ago, I decided it needed a case!!  Not one for 'spending loads' (it's called Yorkshire Thrift, not being tight!!!LOL) I found a phone case to fit a phone slightly smaller than my iphone.... in a 'bits' box!! Determined it would go in I made it fit!!  Well it's only the height that was a challenge!!

Plain blue on a black and white phone was just that.... plain!!!

Got the AHA moment yet??  Cause you have!!!  I took it into my head a while ago to 'bling' it... and Morgana Mouse lived on the front for a loooong time!!  However, into the battle flew Barney the Barn Owl... He was mouse hunting....  So she went and lived under the flap!!  He settled on top!!  I'll show you:

My 'birthday' badge from last year, my Ring of Tatters Badge and my Wolds Lacemakers Badge had to go on there too!!  Well, of cause they did... obvious place for them... on the cover of the things I photograph with!!!!

Happy with the front I also decided the back needed 'a little tatty'....  Out came the Windmill in Old Amsterdam for Morgana to hide in if needed,  VBG  And as that particular windmill is also found in East Yorkshire, then the East Yorkshire rose (my design!!) had to go on there as well!!!

Wha'd'ya think??  Blinged!!!

Must tell you though, it does tell a story:

One morning in dull, windy East Yorkshire, the Miller turned up at Skidby mill to grind some of his renowned flour...

In the middle of the mill he saw a mouse with clogs on!!  It was dancing!!  He spoke to the mouse and asked what it was doing there and if it had a name.

"Morgana from Old Amsterdam", came the reply!!  The miller was puzzled as to how the mouse had got there... she told him her story - evidently her old windmill in Amsterdam had been so full of mice that the authorities had knocked it down to make way for a super duper supermarket, making the mice homeless!!  Mice fled throughout the Netherlands, and Morgana didn't want to stay there, so she packed her bags and walked from Amsterdam to Rotterdam and found a boat making its way to England.

Morgana found a way onto the boat and hid in the car deck where she wouldn't be seen during the voyage.  Well, mice don't have passports do they... and even if they did, they'd be written in 'foreign'!! When the boat docked and she left, she found some East yorkshire mice in the terminal building and asked if there were any windmills nearby.... thus, she found her way to Skidby Windmill!!

However the Miller felt he had to inform her of the mills other 'resident'... Barney the Barn Owl!!!  Morgana promised to hide wherever she could whenever Barney was around!!....

The rest is up to you....
This is a true story, and if you don't believe me ask either Max Bygraves or Ronnie Hilton.... if you can!!!

Which is what'll happen to one of our cats if he tries jumping up AGAIN!! VBG

Don't Mention Water!!

Before I say more.... Roseground here in the UK will soon have tatting shuttles available commemorating the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge!!!

As some of you will know Monday here was May Day Bank Holiday!!  So a certain OG around here decided that it would be a good idea to maybe spend a little time in her favourite chair in the garden, in the bit of sun that we had, and out of the wind, tatting!!

Well, I'd already done these:

Jane's Square Motif.... that I intend making in lots of different colours as a mat.  Great way to use up ends!!

And this:

To 'bling' my phone case... I've already got Morgan Mouse on there, and I thought that an owl to 'hunt' would be good, also I've got a windmill to go on the back! (Owls to hunt the mice in Amsterdam if you remember the song!!!! VBG)

Did this happen??? NO!!!  Why not??

Just getting tatting shuttles etc ready to take out when I heard the gush of water running!!  Not a tap, and we have no water at all upstairs.... quick look at Young Sir's fish tank... a seal had gone at the Bottom Of The Tank!!!!  130 litres of water about to dump itself on the floor!!  Bath towels galore, water syphon, buckets of water later  we managed to get the tank emptied, and the fish put into a large bucket with the heater! (He has South African Cyclids)  Young Sir called work, explained what happened and persuaded his Dad and a mate to meet him at the only place open for business selling tanks on a bank holiday... a Garden Centre would you believe??

They arrived back here at 7pm (the time he was due to start work) with a new tank and base etc.... The setting up involved getting the old tank out (not a problem), the new tank and base in.... hmmm... when your door to the outside world opens inwards onto a wall you can have challenges!!  Will the base fit?? No!!  Find hammers, screwdrivers etc and remove the door!!!  In came the base, and the tank.  They got it levelled (no mean feat on an uneven floor!!)  Hose pipe and buckets of hot water later (yes the new tank is bigger - almost 200 litres!!)

So, I now have a new tank in the corner of the room, enough light to see to walk across the room without lights on in the dark!!  Till we switch them out when we go to bed of course!!  AND all the bath towels in the house now residing in the washing machine waiting to be washed and dried!!!  At least it saved most of it ending up on the laminate floor!!

Did I get any tatting done.... no!!  It was 10.30 when Young Sir got to work, he was supposed to be there at 6.30.... oops!!  Good job his boss was understanding!!  However.... Don't mention Water!!!

Right, on a lighter note, I've also got this to share with you.... you know how cats like boxes....

So do Li'l Misses!!!! Rofl

Chat soon (and don't mention water!!)
